Mr. Asturias:
I hope you and your activities are going great. I’m writing to ask your support in a proposal I have. Since everybody at school is talking about the new expansion in the students club range, I’m writing to propose a new club for our school. I want to propose a fight club. I'm not talking about a literal fight club, but rather a debate club. I think that there are many topics that the students will want to discus with others students or with some teachers. The students will have the opportunity to express themselves and maybe they can make some changes in the school.

Many fights in the school start because there are two students who disagree with something. The students start with verbal aggression and then the physical aggression. This club can avoid many fights at the school because in this club you can discuss any topic or situation. The violence in the school will decrease and in return you will have ordered and well-structured discussions. There are many students that have a lot of ideas and their own opinions of something but they need to kwon how to express in the best way without having to resort to violence with other student who disagree. This club will not only decrease the violence but also will teach to the students how to do a good debate. The students will know how to prepare their arguments and counter arguments of the topic under discussion. I think that this is important for the students because they will be professionals and they need to know how to express and argument their opinions, and how to counter argument the opinions of others without been disrespectful with the other person or persons. This club can teach to the students some education about how to discus with other persons and how to get to an agreement or solution with another person without violence and resentment. Also the students will know how to accept when they are wrong and they will accept a best idea or opinion. Your school will have compressible and educated students.

I hope you consider my request. After all, I think a fight club is going to be beneficial for everybody in our school. We have a long way and we still can develop it. For this reason, I hope you write me back telling me your answer and giving back all the things we need to register the club in our school. Hoping this will not cause you any trouble.

Sincerely,
Carlos Danilo De Leon C.

Paper 2 Activity 2

Guatemala September 6th 2011

Dear Luis:

Hello Luis, how are you doing? I hope that you are fine. It has been long time since we last talked. You never finished telling me what happened with the problem with your girlfriend. Could you solve it? We need to get together to catch up. The reason why I’m writing you is because your sister told my sister that you have serious problems with the IB program because your best friend was diagnosed cancer. I know that it is a hard situation that also affects your IB scores but you don´t need to drop out from everything. I can give you some tips to handle this situation and to start your first year of the IB program.

You need to understand that the cancer of your friend is something that is out of your hands. I understand that you are in depression; this depression affects your classes. The cancer can be controlled, so you need to be positive and cheerful because your friend needs it. You need to give support to your friend and I think that your friend needs you with a good mood in this days to handle the cancer. Your mood can have an influence in your friend, accordingly if you have a positive or negative mood.

In your first year of the IB program my first advice is that you need to select the subjects in superior level that you find easier because the subjects in superior level are more difficult than the ones in the other level. You can choose subjects in standard level that you don’t like or you are not very good. One important thing is that you need to realize that you will spend a lot of time studying and enormous amounts of hours working. Don´t freak out of this, you only need to organize yourself, and you need to do a schedule. With your schedule you will finish all your projects and works in time and you will have time to study for the exams. The key of this is to be organized because the projects and laboratories are not actually very difficult, you only need to have the time and dedication to do them. The benefit of doing this is that you will feel comfortable delivering everything on time without any concern or pressure. But the most important is that your will prepared to the university because you will develop the ability to organize yourself to do the works in the university and also in your life.

I hope that this advice can help you in your IB program; if you take this advice I guarantee you that the IB will be easier. And I hope that your friend continues to be better. I am sure that you will know how to support him.

Sincerely yours,

Danilo De Leon Coosemans
